Cars in German Town Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Automobiles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found multiple other marked cars and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for information.

A high-ranking official commented the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This event hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
